Since 2009, we have been dedicated to saving animals from death row, right across Australia. That’s nearly two decades of compassion and commitment to our furry friends.

Why We Care

Every life is precious, and animals deserve a voice that advocates for their well-being. Unfortunately, not all shelters share our commitment. Many are not 100% no-kill, which is why your support is vital. Your donations help liberate animals that are at risk of being put down in pounds and other centres nationwide. Every contribution goes toward covering the costly veterinary fees that are crucial for their recovery.

Our Mission

Based in the beautiful Sunshine Coast of Queensland, we are a charity that helps animals Australia-wide. Over the years, we have cultivated trusted relationships with veterinary surgeries and pound staff to ensure that distressed, ill, or abandoned animals find safe placements rather than facing euthanasia.

We firmly believe in placement and rehoming, not in ending lives. That’s why we are proud to be 100% no-kill.

Our Caring Community

We have a dedicated, empathic, and compassionate team of over 60 amazing carers, with that number continually climbing as we welcome more to our Soquilichi family. Our carers step up, get the job done, and provide the love that these animals desperately need. Their patience and kindness shine through in every rescue.

The Need for Rescue

Animals are in danger of being euthanised in some centres, especially if they lack microchips. Your donations to Soquilichi provide essential funds for:

Expensive veterinary care and medications (such flea and worm treatments, and medications for rehabilitation)
Releasing animals into safe care
Rescuing and transporting horses, which can be a costly endeavour
Transporting animals—large and small—from pounds and rural areas, often covering long distances, to their safety.

Our network of carers stretches from Maryborough to the Gold Coast, throughout the Sunshine Coast and out West, allowing us to provide help to animals located as far away as Victoria or the northern and western reaches of the eastern states. We ensure these animals are transported to our ranch in Yandina or to caring homes where they can begin their journey to recovery.

Dogs and Cats: Every Life Matters

At Soquilichi Animal Rescue, we believe that every cat and dog deserve a chance, regardless of their breed or appearance. We don’t focus on how pretty an animal is or whether they have a pedigree. Our mission is to provide a safe haven for all animals in need.

We take in a significant number of animals from extremely rural communities—places that other rescues often overlook because they’re too far away. These dogs and cats may have been abandoned, neglected, or simply fallen through the cracks, but we are committed to giving them the love and care they deserve.

By rescuing them, we not only provide them with a second chance at life but also give them the opportunity to be part of a loving family. Every animal we save is a testament to our belief that every life matters, and we strive to connect them with forever homes where they can thrive.

Why Animals Need Us

There are countless reasons why animals require rescue, including:

Emergency placements due to domestic violence
Homelessness
Unwanted litters
Moving house (interstate or overseas)
Owners hospitalized (temporarily or permanently)
Owners who have passed away
Hoarding situations, where uncontrolled breeding leads to overwhelming numbers of animals—often seen in cat communities, sometimes numbering from 20 to as high as 100.

While we primarily focus on dogs, cats, and companion animals, we have been known to assist with more unusual cases, including a baby camel! Our love for all animals drives us to connect you with the appropriate organisations, even if we can’t provide direct help ourselves.
